Forgiveness

The other day I was thinking about what forgiveness looks like, and if we are even capable of the kind of forgiveness that God has given to us.
Christ, while dying on the cross in agony, said, "Father, forgive them for they don't know what they are doing."
If we get upset about little things, how will we be able to forgive BIG things?
It isn't that hard to forgive little things. We all do.
But HUGE things? That can be a lot harder.
The ONLY way, is to die to self and live in Christ. But self is quite stubborn.
It wants to say, "That isn't fair!" "How could you have done that?" "I'm wounded!" "You hurt me!"
Self doesn't want to look at God's plan. Self wants to rise up and say, "I deserve better!"
Rejection hurts. It cuts deep. Sometimes we feel like we are the only ones. Nobody understands. Or worse, God doesn't understand.
But we serve a MIGHTY GOD who was rejected and despised for no reason. There is NOTHING we have gone through, that He has not gone through already. AND we, even though we trust Him, don't want to deal with what is in our hearts.
We pour our burdens out to the Lord and ask him to bear them, and take them back upon our shoulders once again.
Oh precious Lord! Help us in our shortsightedness. Help us to see what you see!
Help us to trust and not fall back in to fear.
Help us to cast our pain and heartache to the one who has borne all things with grace and mercy.
Help us to be like YOU.
